You've memorized every vocabulary word, done every available GRE practice test, written hundreds of analytical essays, and now you're ready to take the real GRE. After all those hours of GRE preparation, the last thing you want is something to go wrong on test day. Read our GRE test day tips to make sure your test day goes smoothly.

Sleep Well

You need a good night's sleep to score as high as possible. When you get your eight hours, you can concentrate better and just think more clearly, and hence, score higher on the GRE.

Follow Routine

If you never eat breakfast, don't shock your body and throw down a big bowl of cereal before the test. On the other side, if you always eat breakfast, don't try to take the GRE on an empty stomach.

Read Beforehand

Get your brain working before the test. You want to start the GRE with a fresh mind. Just like athletes who warm up before a big competition, you need to warm up your brain.

Wear Layers

Bring a sweatshirt or jacket. Who knows what the temperature's going to be in the testing center. Make sure you don't end up freezing in just a t-shirt.

Be on Time

Make sure you know where your testing center is and give yourself enough time to get there at least ten minutes before your scheduled test time.

Relax

Don't stress. You're prepared and you know exactly what to expect from each section. The actual GRE is just your chance to show graduate schools exactly how prepared you are.
